  • 1977–1981: B.Sc., Biology, "Babeş-Bolyai" University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania
  • 1992–1996: Ph.D., "Babeş-Bolyai" University, Faculty of Biology-Geography-Geology Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The thesis was defended in 1996. The title of the thesis: Originea şi evoluţia faunelor de ofidieni din zona Ţării Crişurilor (Origin and evolution of ophidian faunas from the Ţării Crişurilor area). Scientific supervisors: Prof. Dr. Bogdan Stugren, Prof. Dr. Nicolae Tomescu.
